Woke up early today from a nightmare where I had taken some of the most incredible images of my career, only to later drop both of my cameras in a pool of mud that turned my memory cards to ooze. A psychic photography moment? I think so, because as soon as I woke up I heard the news that Calumet Photo has unexpectedly closed all of their U.S. locations. (I was just there yesterday!) What, what, whaaattt? The end of an era, absolutely. What a loss for the photographic community. To Herb, Roy, and the rest of the Chicago Goose Island gang—-many thanks for all your help over the years, you will be missed.
“The giraffe’s neck is for grazing on the stars. No need to fly.
The chameleon’s skin, green, blue, purple, white, is for hiding from animals. No need to run away.
The poem of the poet is to say all this and thousands and thousands of other things. No need to understand.”—Translated from the film, “Blue is the Warmest Color” (La Vie d’Adèle – Chapitres 1 & 2)
“And anyway, if you become [a star] it is because of what you do, not because you dress this way or you wear these glasses or you have this bag. That’s not the point.’”—Franca Sozzani, editor of Vogue Italia
A stop-motion video photobooth?! Ahhhh, so cool!
Had some fun with it on Friday night with my friends Gretta and Jack after their My Gold Mask show at Subterranean in Wicker Park. (P.S. Check out their new song “Battles"….I was a fan of the band before I even met them and they.are.awesome)
